Are You Tired of Being A “Slick” Marketer?
This is a heartfelt post. I’m not putting any tags on it for Google’s little robots to crawl. I’m not blasting it all over the world for people to read. It will only end up on Facebook and Twitter because I have plugins on my Wordpress blog that allow it to be spread that way.
Look. I’m a real person. I’m not some slick marketer. Do I know how to market? Sure I do. But there’s something about marketing that makes me a little sick. I don’t want to try and twist your arm and twist your mind to make you do something that is going to make me money. I get a sick feeling in my stomach just thinking about it.
Do I have a marketing system that works for my network marketing business? YES
Do I work with some of the best marketers on the planet in the online and offline world? YES
Do I believe in what I’m doing? YES
But I like to just be real with people. There are too many people struggling in this business and it makes me upset. All you have to do is follow a system that someone else laid out for you. You don’t have to create the system. And if you’re smart you won’t deviate from the system and try to do your own thing.
Network marketing has been around for 125 years and it’s not going anywhere. There are more people getting involved now than ever before. You know why? Because all you have to do is follow a system. You don’t have to chase friends and family. You don’t have to make phone calls. Hell, you don’t even have to market on the internet. It’s all about how it works for YOU.
But combining the power of offline marketing with online marketing is the absolute best way to go. Why? Because it’s not just about high-tech. It’s about high-touch.
If I can connect with you on Facebook, join your group (or you join mine when I finally get around to making one), tweet back and forth with you, make tutorial videos, and make personal videos with me talking to YOU and THEN I FINALLY meet you at a live event or talk to you on the phone aren’t you that much more ready to talk to me?
Think about it. I’ve touched you all over the internet. You’re reading what I write, hearing my voice, and seeing me on videos on a regular basis. When I call you, you might even be shocked. But this is how the game is meant to be played. This is a relationship business. It always has been and it always will be.
If you think you can get away with not talking to people on the phone you’re out of your mind. Or you may just have enough money to hire a call center to do the work for you. And if that’s the case this doesn’t apply to you. And just to be clear that’s something we should all strive to do because it makes us look more professional and it’s also a great form of leverage. Some marketing systems already have that built-in.
But anyway, I don’t do what I do to be slick. I’m not trying to sell you a product or an opportunity. All I want to do is get to know you. We can just talk on Facebook. If you want to learn how to do something and I know how to do it, I’ll show you. If I don’t, I’ll show you someone who can. That’s how this thing works. I’m not trying to ‘draw you in’. I could care less if you join me or not. You know why? Because the right people will ask me the right questions and they will do whatever it takes to get closer to me to learn what I’m doing. And those are the people that I want to work with.
